Session 1: An Introduction to the Hidden Ocean

Introductory talks and conversation with: Dr Karen Lloyd and Dr Michael Cunliffe + a YMB members perspective.
Session 2: Exploring the Hidden Ocean

Talks and Conversation introducing how and why we study the microscopic life and processes in the ocean.
With: David Johns, Yasmin Meeda, Mike Allen, Russel Arnott and Sally Warring.
Session 3: Out of Sight Out of Mind?
26th November. 12:30pm – 13:35 UK time
Talks and conversations about the wider effects the microscopic life and processes have in the ocean, from DNA in shark pooh to the microscopic algae that sustain huge coral reefs.
With: Jefrey J. Marlow, Judith Bakker, Cordelia Roberts, Fabiana Neves and Cher Chow
Session 4: SEA LIFE SHOWDOWN!!
28th November. 13:50 – 14:45 UK time
It’s back! – Watch as 6 passionate marine scientists battle it out to try and convince you that their favourite microscopic marine organism is the ‘most awesome’.
Following introductions, contestants have 3 mins to present their favourite microscopic hero. Order of play will be decided at random and the winner will be decided BY YOU via live poll.
Session 5: Living Together
26th November. 15:00 – 16:00 UK time
The final session of the day will include talks and conversation with Dr Jeanette Davis and Dr Colleen Cavanagh and closing comments from MBA director Willie Wilson.
There will be 25 speakers from around the world, including leading scientists & communicators as well as some of our Young Marine Biologist Members.
